A compact lens adapter in an elegant, cylindrical format that allows users of A-mount lenses to benefit from the outstanding AF performance of E-mount camera bodies.

With this adapter, A-mount lenses with SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) and SAM (Smooth Autofocus Motor) can be used with E-mount cameras to utilise large-area AF2 phase detection at the focal plane including subject recognition such as real-time eye AF (people and animals), real-time tracking and more. The LA-EA5 supports all A-mount lenses5, including models without internal motors such as Sonnar T 135 mm F1.8 ZA and Planar T 85 mm F1.4 ZA. AF phase detection on the focal plane, AF with eye detection in real time (people and animals), real-time tracking and AF/AE series tracking3 are fully supported at up to 11 fps4. The slim, high-performance cylindrical lens adapter incorporates advanced compact AF and iris driver units. The diameter corresponds to A-mount, so that nothing protrudes when used with E-mount housings - for comfortable holding and operation even when using a vertical grip.
