The Laowa 15mm f/2.0 FE Zero-D is one of the brightest and least distorted ultra-wide-angle lenses available for Sony full-frame E-mount cameras. It is a highly light-sensitive lens suitable for both 35mm full-frame and APS-C sensors. The optical design of this lightweight and compact lens consists of 12 elements in 9 groups, including 2 aspherical elements and 3 extra-low dispersion elements. The patented optical design successfully minimizes distortion and chromatic aberration while delivering excellent optical performance all the way to the corners of the image. Ultra-wide and bright lenses on the market are typically very large and often feature a dome-shaped front lens, which poses a particular challenge for landscape photographers who frequently use filters. Venus Optics has addressed this need by developing a lens with a flat front lens that allows for a 72mm filter thread, enabling the use of standard 72mm screw-in filters. Additionally, this lens offers the ability to capture sharp images of nearby objects thanks to its super short minimum focusing distance of 15cm. With a large aperture of f/2.0, it excels at astrophotography as well as wide-angle shots with beautiful bokeh.
