EK-Quantum Vector Strix RTX 3080/3090 Active Backplate D-RGB - Plexi is an addition to the EK Quantum Line. It complements the existing EK-Quantum Vector Strix RTX 3080/3090 waterblocks and actively cools the back of a ROG GeForce RTX 3080 and 3090 Strix GPU.
The EK-Quantum Vector Strix RTX 3080/3090 Active Backplate comes with a connector that replaces the standard Vector waterblock connector and connects the waterblock and Vector Active Backplate into one unit. This way, the entire enclosure only requires one inlet and one outlet, eliminating unnecessary extra tubing and reducing clutter. It's the ultimate aesthetic and performance solution, with your GPU nestled between two waterblocks for maximum cooling.
The Vector Active Backplate directly cools the PCB hotspots located on the back of the GPU core and VRM (Voltage Regulation Module). On the RX 3090, the VRAM is cooled on the back, while the RTX 3080 gets cooling for the PCB around the VRAM on the front. The cooling fluid is routed over all of these critical areas.
These active backplates feature a fin arrangement with 8 wide channels that allow for very low flow restriction. This in turn allows for lower temperatures overall while giving the active backplate more than enough surface area for heat transfer.
The base of the active backplate is CNC machined from nickel plated electrolytic copper, while the top is CNC machined from glass-like cast acrylic. The rest of the backplate is nickel plated aluminum and does not come in contact with the liquid. These Vector Active backplates also have acrylic connectors that match the top cover. The watertight seal is provided by high quality EPDM O-rings.
The aesthetic end piece houses the addressable D-RGB LED strip. This water block features a total of 8 individually addressable RGB LEDs and is compatible with popular RGB sync technologies from all major motherboard manufacturers. The arrow mark on the 3-pin D-RGB LED connector must be aligned with the +5V mark on the D-RGB header (addressable).

The next generation - the Alphacool Eisblock Aurora water cooler for Geforce RTX 40XX graphics cards. In order to best dissipate the enormous heat of this graphics card generation, numerous optimisations have been made to the water cooler compared to the previous model. The fin structure has been adapted and enables a very good water flow with simultaneous increase of the cooling surface. The modified nozzle plate with improved inflow engine ensures optimum distribution of the water on the cooling fins. Technical Highlights The fin structure of this ice block cooler generation was developed together with Nvidia board partners. The fin thickness is 0.4 mm, the distance between the cooling fins is 0.4 mm. This ensures a very good water flow with a simultaneous increase in the possible cooling surface. The nozzle plate has a revised inlay that distributes the water pressure better over the fins and optimises heat absorption. The adjusted water inflow helps the water to have a better angle of incidence. Chrome-plated copper The cooler is made entirely of chrome-plated copper. Chrome plating is much harder than nickel plating and therefore less susceptible to acids, scratches and damage. The danger of chipping nickel plating is thus completely eliminated. In addition, the chrome plating looks much more homogeneous and offers a shine that cannot be achieved by nickel plating. Chrome-plated radiators were previously only used in the industrial sector in areas where the radiators were subject to extreme influences. Design The Aurora design of the Geforce RTX 40XX ice block generation is visually calmer and simpler. Only one O-ring surrounds the entire cooler. The design around the cooling fins and the jetplate provides a clearer look. The illumination of the digitally addressable RGB LEDs is even better distributed in the cooler thanks to the chrome plating. The terminal corresponds to the classic Aurora design. Thermal conductive paste & Thermal conductive pads The thermal conductive paste included in the scope of delivery is Alphacool's Subzero. With a thermal conductivity of 16 W/mK, it is one of the most powerful thermal pastes on the market. The electrically non-conductive thermal grease is particularly suitable for high contact pressures, but can still be processed perfectly due to its viscosity of 850,000 TF. Alphacool Soft Pads with a thickness of 1mm are used on the voltage converters and the graphics memory. The thermal conductivity of the pads is 7 W/mK. The pads for the back side of the PCB are 3mm thick and have a thermal conductivity of 3 W/mK. The Alphacool Ice Block Aurora GPX-A Radeon 6800(XT) combines style with performance and extensive Digital RGB lighting. Over 17 years of experience have gone into this graphics card water cooler and represent the current pinnacle of Alphacool product development. During the development of the Eisblock Aurora GPX-A Radeon 6800(XT) graphics card water cooler, emphasis was naturally also placed on increasing performance. In the first step, the cooler was brought closer to the individual components by reducing the heat conducting pads to a thickness of 1 mm. In the second step, the nickel-plated copper block was also made thinner. Instead of the previous 7 mm, it is now only 5.5 mm thick. The water flow has also been optimized within the cooler. All important components like the voltage converters and the RAM are now cooled much better and more effectively by the water. All of this provides a significant increase in cooling performance. The Eisblock Aurora GPX-A Radeon 6800(XT) cooler has been fundamentally designed to focus more on lighting than previous models. The addressable digital RGB LEDs are embedded directly into the cooling block and they run along the sides of the entire cooling block. The effect is an illumination that encloses the entire cooling block. No corner or edge is left unlit by the aRGB LEDs. The design is more angular, with all edges beveled. The result is better light diffusion in the water cooler due to the reflections from these bevels. In addition, they create various contours that give the ice block Aurora GPX-A Radeon 6800(XT) cooler a very unique visual touch. Alphacool, of course, only uses copper in its water coolers. In the case of the Eisblock Aurora GPX-A Radeon 6800(XT), the copper is nickel-plated. Compared to the previous models, however, Alphacool has once again improved the type of nickel plating, which has significantly increased the acid resistance. A flaking nickel plating should thus be excluded. And, why does Alphacool use copper instead of aluminum? Copper simply has almost twice the thermal conductivity of aluminum and is therefore clearly the better material for a water cooler. The graphics card water cooler ice block Aurora GPX-A Radeon 6800(XT) also relies on the patented screw plugs, which are flush with the surface of the terminal. The Alphacool logo now sits in the corner on the top and is also fully illuminated. The front of the terminal features corresponding labels for the compatible graphics card types. Of course, these are also fully illuminated by the digital LEDs. IN and OUT are now marked by small discreet triangles. They are easily recognizable and fit perfectly into the overall visual line of the graphics card water cooler. The Alphacool Aurora GPX-A Radeon 6800(XT) Acrylic is in every respect a complete evolution of previous Alphacool graphics card water coolers.
