Can I open a website on the TV that is then displayed 24/7 without interruption? How exactly do I have to do this? The screen saver cannot be deactivated via the settings.

The Sony KD-55X85L is a Google TV, which makes it easier to display a website. Here are the steps you can follow to display a website 24/7 and bypass the screensaver:

1. open website on the TV:

Use internet browser: Your Sony TV has an integrated internet browser (often called "Vewd Browser" or simply "Internet Browser").

Press the HOME button on your remote control.

Navigate to apps or applications.

Select Internet Browser (if not directly visible, search under "All apps").

Enter the URL of the desired website. You can do this via the address bar at the top of the screen (select it with the arrow keys and press OK, then "Enter URL" in the options menu) or, if the address bar is not visible, press the OPTION button on the remote control and select "Enter URL".

Enter the complete URL and confirm with "Enter".

2. deactivate screen saver / activate "Stay Awake":

Deactivating the screensaver is somewhat hidden on Google TVs, but can be done via the developer options.

Activate developer options:

Press the HOME button on your remote control.

Go to Settings (gear icon).

Select System.

Scroll down and select Info.

In the "Info" menu, scroll all the way down to Android TV OS build (or just "Build").

Quickly press the OK button 7 times on "Android TV OS build". A message should appear stating that you are now a developer.

Activate "Stay Awake":

Go back to the System menu.

You should now see a new option called Developer Options. Select this.

Scroll down in the developer options and look for the "Stay Awake" option.

Activate this option.

By activating "Stay Awake", the TV should no longer switch to screensaver mode as long as it is switched on and the website is displayed.

Important notes and considerations for 24/7 operation:

Burn-in / Image Retention: OLED TVs are more prone to burn-in with static images that are displayed for long periods of time. Even with LED televisions, extremely long periods with static content can lead to "image retention" (afterglow), even if this is usually temporary. The KD-55X85L is an LED TV with Full Array Local Dimming, which makes it more resistant than OLEDs, but the risk remains minimal. If the website contains many static elements, this could be problematic in the long term.

Hello!

Thank you for your enquiry.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to deactivate the screen saver in the browser as standard on this TV model. This is a protective function of the device to prevent static content from burning into the screen.
Nevertheless, there are a few helpful tips on how you can keep the display on without interruption:
- Movement on the remote control: simply press a button on the remote control occasionally, such as the volume button. This will send a signal to the TV and reset the screensaver countdown.
- Use a mouse: If you have a mouse connected to the TV, all you need to do is move it from time to time.
- Alternative to the browser: Consider whether you can play the content via a video streaming app instead. This behaviour does not usually occur with apps.
