Can the Freebuds 3 also be charged via usb C with the original charging adapter (Supercharge) from the P20 Pro or is the voltage from the adapter too high? Or can the Freebuds be damaged in this way?

You can charge it with the charging adapter from the P20 Pro. However, the charging process is not faster because the voltage is limited to 5V. But if you don't want to leave 100 charging cables lying around, you can also use your P20 Pro charging adapter for your Freebuds.
