Can this headset be connected directly via USB like a wired one? Bluetooth directly from the notebook has been disabled by our IT. Currently using a Plantronics 325T.

I use it like this, connected to the tower via USB. Everything runs tip-top.

This must work. Because you always have to connect to the base station and this then radios the headset. The mobile phone then also connects to the base station, e.g. via Bluetooth. I don't have exactly this one, but I have a comparable one in use in a similar IT environment.

The base station would have to be connected via USB

Not exactly. No.
You would have to connect the USB end station.
