Can this mouse also be used on an old Macbook Pro with a USB port? USB is then needed to charge the mouse, which would then also be possible via a power adapter with USB or USB-C?

Yes.
The mouse comes with a dongle for the wireless connection. This makes it system-independent.
Charging is also done at a USB port. With only one available, it is therefore not possible to charge and work at the same time.
But the battery lasts a long time.
