Dear community. I would be interested to know why this cable is called passive. Are the Apple cables active? Thank you in advance for your active participation in answering this question.

Active cables have an additional chip to ensure that the transfer rate does not drop over longer distances (cable lengths). When it comes down to 0.8 m, as is the case here, 40 Gb/s should also be achieved passively without any problems. The following 2m cable is active LMP USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 cable (active) (USB Type-C, 0.20 cm) - so the high transfer rate can remain unchanged even at 2m length.
