Do you also have a quiet, constant noise in the headphones or is it just me? Is my headset possibly defective? It's not annoying when you're playing sound, but when it's not I find it annoying.

Headphones with a radio connection always have noise, or at least the tendency to do so. "Radio" is basically "radio". Maybe try to place the transmitter mast (=usb-stick) differently.
