The Office Home & Student 2019 version runs on macOS Big Sur, as Office 2019 for Mac is compatible with macOS 10.13 or newer. However, macOS Big Sur (version 11.x) is the oldest macOS version officially supported by the latest Office updates (until version 16.77 in September 2023). Newer Office updates no longer support macOS Big Sur, only macOS Monterey and higher.

This means that you can install and use Office Home & Student 2019 on your MacBook with macOS Big Sur, but the latest updates and functions are no longer guaranteed to be supported. For full compatibility, Microsoft recommends macOS Monterey or later.
