Does this DVD read both Zone 1 & 2 DVDs? (ie, European and American DVDs?) I need it for some study DVDs from US school and wondering if it will work automatically or if MacBook allows only a European zone. Thanks in advance.

It's not so much the drive as it is the software. MacOS will not allow multiple regions when using the inbuilt player, but VLC player will happily ignore the region of a disc and play anything.
