Question about Gigabyte GIGA X670 AORUS ELITE AX AM5/DDR5/ATX
Hello everyone Do I understand correctly that this motherboard does not support 6400MHz RAM (I have the Corsair Vengeance in mind)? Should I therefore rather go for the previous and cheaper model (Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX), which according to the description supports 6400MHz RAM? Many thanks in advance and best regards
From my understanding ALL AM5 motherboards and CPUs "CAN" support 6400MHz RAM with the latest few AGESA BIOS revisions, but it is down to the CPU whether it can run stable or not. Zen 4 CPUs are only guaranteed to run at 6000MHz, and the performance increase to 6400MHz is 1-2% at best.
You would be much better buying CL30 low latency 6000MHz RAM such as Corsair Vengeance atnd running the EXPO/XMP profile. This is especially true with the X3D processors which benefit even less from faster RAM. For 6000MHz and above I would wait for Zen 5 8xxx series CPUs
Unfortunately, we have only had problems with this motherboard and we are now replacing it with a completely different product.
