If you connect the HDMI extractor to your computer to display the picture on a TV and send the sound to your speakers, streaming sites such as Netflix or Disney+ will not directly recognise the 5.1 output via the extractor. However, the extractor itself supports 5.1 audio formats such as Dolby Digital and DTS Audio. For streaming sites to play 5.1 sound, your computer and speakers would need to be configured to support these formats, and the streaming sites would need to offer 5.1 content. The extractor does not affect the site's ability to recognise or play 5.1 audio, but it does allow the 5.1 audio signal to be transmitted if it is available.
