As you can see from the technical data, the 2022 version (black) has a "better" glider and the technology of how the mouse recognises where it is also differs. The 2022 version (black) uses laser technology and the other uses diodes. Does not make a big difference for the user, but NO they are not only different in colour.

The products are identical, which is what I found online before I bought them. The cable of version 3 is also black and not covered with rubber but with fibres. I can't say whether this is also the case with version 2, but it doesn't really matter for the mouse.
