How is this handled if I already have a Photography subscription? Will I be charged for it, can I interrupt it or will it simply expire?

The other subscription continues. I use that and have this Creative Cloud subscription as well as a 1TB Lightroom subscription, the storage space is added up for multiple subscriptions.
Adobe also allows you to switch to some of them (mostly to Creative Cloud) but this online subscription service is extremely confusing and I'm not sure if it works with a pre-paid code. I recommend contacting Adobe support and asking about this.
