Question about Gigaset Dx800a
I am changing my telephone connection from Swisscom ISDN to IP or Quickline cable with only one number. My Quickline cable modem without WLAN only has an analogue output (my WLAN router is connected to the modem). Can I operate the DX800a sensibly on the analogue connection of the modem? Does this have any disadvantages compared to a direct iP connection? Can I also connect an analogue door intercom to the analogue fax port of the DX800? (until now this was connected to my GIgast 4170isdn).

I thought it would be easy to connect, I just have to unplug the analogue cable from my old phone and plug it into the Gigaset.
Fiddlesticks. First I reset the phone and deleted all the settings.
The phone doesn't recognise my analogue connection and the installation wizard wants to configure the phone with either ISDN or VOIP. After the configuration, I get the message, please check the telephone connection. Of course, if the phone does not recognise an analogue connection. I have a normal analogue cable from Sunrise. I have heard that maybe the cable has to be reversed somehow.
Or can you get the appropriate cable from the Sunrise shop (PJ??)?

You can also use this phone with Swisscom with VOIP. As an electrical company, I offer the configurations.
I have already had to switch three systems with DX800A from ISDN to IP or currently analogue with certain disadvantages. Some services as with ISDN are no longer available or only in a cumbersome way. SMS are read out instead of text, dialling tones are audible, etc. The DX800A can serve as a switch; from the modem to port LAN1 (input) and from LAN2 (output) to the WLAN router. For pure IP telephony you need the SIP access data from the network operator. Some still do not provide this data (e.g. UPC).
Set up door intercom mode on the DX800A:
Menu - Settings - System - FXS Port - Mode: Doorphone.
The codes for use (open door, connect door, end door) depend on the make of the door intercom interface. And only use system keys for this; the numeric keys do not transmit DTMF tones. Basically, the Internal 8 connection is used in the DX800A; without buzzer and dialling tones. The door intercom interface must be able to send the DTMF code *8 for ringing for both my applications. You can individually label Internal 8 on the DX800A and, if necessary, on handsets (e.g. front door). This has worked for years without any problems.

Yes, you can connect a door intercom. You can find the supplement to the Gigaset DX800A manual as a pdf file on the Internet.
In principle, the DX800a works tiptop on an analogue line as a telephone and also as a base station for any existing handsets. The configuration must of course be adapted.
Disadvantages compared to a direct IP connection: You are simply fixed to your provider (Quickline), who makes the conversion from IP telephony to an analogue signal for you in the cable modem. If you do this in the DX800a, then you are simply your own IP telephony endpoint. But then you also need a SIP provider etc...
