I have a listening problem with this headset, randomly every x minutes a sudden brief loud noise rips through the ears. It is plugged directly into a ten year old Sony TV with the jack plug. If you have a solution because as it is it is not usable.

Try plugging the headphones into another source: for example, the 'headphone' output of your computer. If the same phenomenon occurs, the headphones probably have a defect (jack, connection cable, power supply, .....). If not, the headphone output (jack) of the TV set should be checked. It happens that over time the contacts oxidise. And to definitely incriminate the operation of the headphones, try connecting a wired headphone or the wired headphones of your smartphone.
