I have an i5-6600K at the moment. It is also an LGA 1151 socket. Can I put it on there without any problems or will I run into problems?

Look at the chipset. The 6600K is probably on a board with a "Z170" chipset. You can usually recognise this by the name of the board (e.g. Asus Z170 Pro Gaming) or on the manufacturer's website. Unlike the 6600K, the 9700K requires the "Z370" chipset, although the socket is the same.

Check with the manufacturer of the mainboard which CPU is supported for your board. A BIOS update may be necessary.
