I own a Mabook Pro late 2011 (16GB/1TB SSD/2xUSB 2.0/Thunderbold) and will be using it for some time. Which hard drive is faster for transferring large video files with my hardware (real transfer rate)? LaCie Rugged Mini (4000GB) or LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt (2000GB)?

Helpful answer

Rugged Thunderbolt theoretically has 10 Gbps, Rugged Mini USB 3.0 5 Gbps.
Rugged internally, both are conventional magnetic discs, which certainly do not provide more than 100 MB/s.
So it doesn't really matter which one you use.
In your case, however, because your MacBook still has USB 2.0, I would advise you to use Thunderbolt.
