I was wondering if having 7.1 surround really makes a difference? (Especially for the spatialization of the sound).

These headphones are stereo, they don't have 7.1. Having tested both, I honestly don't think the 5.1/7.1 is worth it, let alone on a headset. It doesn't make much difference in my opinion. In addition, surround compatible headphones are more expensive and often lose in sound quality compared to stereo headphones like this one, but which offer excellent clarity and sound quality, despite only being right-to-left spatialized.
