I work in an IT security company, so wireless mice are prohibited. Can this mouse also be used exclusively via cable? That is, without Bluetooth or receiver?

Yes, that is no problem at all. I have also been doing this for almost 1 year. It's wired up quickly at work and at home, works great and the mouse itself is highly recommended.

Just leave the charging cable permanently plugged in and work "hidden" wirelessly :D
