I would like to install this CPU on a msi B450 Tomahawk max. According to the msi compatibility list, it is suitable. But...the B450 has PCI 3.0, no PCI 4.0. Is the CPU slower because of that, or does it work? Thanks for info.

Helpful answer
PCIe is backwards compatible, so your graphics card or SSD that can run PCIe 4.0 will simply run on 3.0, otherwise you won't lose any CPU performance and as far as I know this is rarely a limiting factor.

I would rather get a better motherboard e.g. ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 AMD X570 So.AM4 Dual Channel DDR4 ATX (156 € at
Mindfactory) You have 1x PCIe 4.0 x16, 1x PCIe 4.0 x16 (x4) for the better GraKa later :-)

You have to make sure that you have the latest bios version, then it is no problem.
and as the colleague described above is already correct.
