Is it just me or does my phone charge much slower with the magsafe charger than with the normal lightning cable? and it also gets hot mega fast!

Yes, that is because the MagSafe Charger charges more slowly (wattage). It is the same for me in the heat. But with a MagSafe cover, you no longer notice this.
