Helpful answer

I connected the station to a powered USB hub, which works very well, otherwise, as far as I know, you could also charge the headphones directly with a micro-USB cable.

my astro a50 has a micro usb port but it only charges via docking station. does anyone know a solution?

Yes, there is a micro USB port on the headset that you can plug into a wall socket or USB slot with an adapter.
