Question about Beyerdynamic custom game
Recommended for the PS4? Is it a better choice than a virtual surround headset for shooters, for example, where it's important to hear / react quickly to footsteps in real time?
It is preferable to any plastic gaming headset. With good hi-fi headphones, you can locate your opponents perfectly. On the PS4, you get "only" stereo sound when connected directly to the controller. Even if you connect a USB sound card such as the Creative SoundblasterX G1 to the PS4, you get stereo sound.
Of course, the Beyerdynamic MMX300 is a little better than the custom game, but in my opinion it's not worth the extra cost. I have the MMX300 2Gen. myself and am already selling it again because I don't like it that much.
