Question about SanDisk Extreme Portable

I just read that SanDisk's SSDs seem to have major problems. People everywhere are losing what they have saved and it can't be salvaged. MacWorld today. Does anyone have any experience of this kind? What would be an alternative, also in terms of price?

So far, I have not experienced any problems with this SSD. However, you should never neglect a backup. Something can always happen.

Yup, gave up the ghost this week without any warning. :(

Yes I have had 2 - both are within two weeks - no longer usable. Both Extreme Portable 4TBs - firmware was up to date.

Heise, the Standard has also confirmed this - although the manufacturer simply ignores it and sells it on. Have a look here (I wouldn't buy any more): https://www.heise.de/meinung...

Again and again (3 to 5 times a day) SSD loses connection with Mac. (Mac Book pro M1 with OS 13.5.1). It then reconnects and works normally. I have never had data loss. I became quite unsure and ordered Samsung SSD.

same here, never had a single problem since 2 years of constant usage. Still always good to have an automated backup solution.

I have never had any problems either, I have been using it for a while and it is perfect. The same goes for SD cards, I use SanDisk exclusively. As mentioned above (or below?) you should obviously always have one or two backups of the disk.
