the card reader is not displayed on the mac. what can be done?

The card reader is displayed with an XQD card inserted. The speed on my 2013 MacPro is not impressive 100GB in approx. 50 min...
I have a second reader from Sony USB3 XDQ SD XCII, which is more than 4x faster...

No problem, it plugs directly into my 27 inch i-Mac. Unfortunately, the cable is a bit too short. LG
