To be honest, I don't have the phone myself (yet), but I have read/heard/watched various reviews of it. In at least one of them the point you mentioned was mentioned/criticised. So at least you are not alone. Unfortunately, this says nothing about whether it is a defect or simply due to the construction. I seem to remember that in the review it was rather described as a construction.... er, ... "unsightliness". If I find the link to the review, I'll share it here.

I would also be very interested in the experiences of other ZP7 owners!

But of course it would be nice if Asus would provide a balance option here via an update 🤔...
