What is the difference to the G2 Thunterbolt version? I can't find any information about which system it works with...

USB-C is the physical connection and Thunderbolt is a protocol that comes from Intel. Basically, it makes absolutely no difference whether USB-C or Thunderbolt, as both are compatible with each other. The important thing is that the bandwidth is the same in comparison.
