Question about Thermal Grizzly Minus Pad 8
What is your experience with current boards? I have an X570 Dark Hero from Asus and would like to replace my m.2. Is it more like 1mm or 1.5mm? 0.5 is certainly too thin, but according to my memory there is already quite a bit of pressure on it, but I have no idea what kind of standard pad is currently on the heatsink of the board. I'll replace the 980 with a 990 from Samsung and the 980 will go into the second slot. I might be able to get rid of the heatsink without destroying the pad.

Can you share my experience with a Kingston M.2 2280 NVME 512 GB SSD in a MiniPC. I have installed the 1 mm pads with a copper plate (for reasons of space). The SSD runs around 30-40 degrees in normal operation and never goes to the max temp of 70 grand. For my application, the 1 mm is completely OK.
It is best to order both 1 and 1.5mm. Anyone who buys components like yours should be financially able to do so ;-)
But actually, you can usually get rid of the SSD pads without destroying them because they are quite thick.
