When I connect the card and install the drivers, can I hear the sound through my monitor or only when I connect my headphones?

If the monitor has speakers and you connect it to the sound card with a jack 3.5mm cable, you will hear the sound.

Yes, it should work as nbsh579 wrote, but since screen speakers are usually of low quality, it doesn't necessarily make sense because the normal sound unit on the mainboard should actually be sufficient.
