Why is the 9010 with the "free" warranty extension (from 2 to 3 years) more expensive than the 9012 model with a 2-year warranty, which also comes with 2 months of free Instant Ink? You pay more for less...

Because 1 year additional warranty and thus possible warranty services are much more expensive for the manufacturer than 2 months ink subscription. The latter costs the manufacturer a few francs per month, but a repair or replacement (transport, labour, administration, etc.) costs at least several dozen francs.
