The author provides a platform for 16 women to share their individual experiences with societal attitudes towards disability. Her conversation partners include women with disabilities, mothers of disabled children, and gynecologists. The author opts for a qualitative approach to gather insights into the women's realities, foregoing a prepared questionnaire and allowing the women to describe their respective life circumstances in their own words. This results in extremely authentic testimonies of their feelings and experiences. Depending on their background, education, and income, the women experience structural violence and discrimination in varying degrees. The author takes a nuanced look at the circumstances against the backdrop of embryopathic indications. Furthermore, the author addresses the complexities surrounding the issue of intentionality.
