Nothing influences our lives more than love. Hardly any film and only a few novel plots can do without some form of love and the emotions associated with it. All conceivable forms of lovelessness are just as ubiquitous in the media as the perversions of love. Love, it seems, is both the most fundamental form of human relationship and a place of longing and escape for all feelings. But is what is often too quickly labeled as love really just a fleeting emotion similar to fear or desire? Is there not a significant difference between the quick infatuation and what we call true love? Is love not rather a demanding and risky form of lasting engagement? And above all: Is love really the opposite and adversary of reason? Or is it the highest form?.
