Biobanks in Germany are internationally highly regarded and competitive. The National Biobanks Symposium, established in the scientific calendar, will foster synergies for intensive exchange and enhanced collaboration at both regional and national levels. To this end, the symposium brings together the expertise of the biobanking community on key topics such as cross-site standardization and harmonization of quality management, interconnected data and sample exchange, IT and data interoperability, as well as sustainable biobanking. The symposium contributes to intensifying the dialogue with the industry on biobank-relevant technologies and also addresses the perception of biobanks among the public and scientists. It serves as a platform to discuss the work of the 'German Biobank Node' within the national biobanking landscape and to coordinate the national connection to the European biobank infrastructure BBMRI-ERIC.
