Dresses made of masonry, makeup brush feet, dog or bird heads, monstrous eyes and hands, donut lips, swimming fins, and accessories made from tank trucks or muffins. Klaudia Schifferle created her paper dolls from materials she cut out from magazines and illustrated publications, reassembling them on A4 sheets. The collages are colorful and cheeky; sometimes cute, often mischievous. Created between 2011 and 2016, some of the images were also meticulously painted in oil. By creating the figures from found image elements, the paper dolls gain a dual value. They tell stories of our time with their objects and simultaneously open our perception, evoking feelings and moments. Paper dolls have existed in ancient Chinese burial rites and as Katashiro figures in Japanese healing rituals. In Europe, paper figures became popular for cutting out.
