We live in the now. What has happened has happened. Yet every person knows the situation where something doesn't make much sense in hindsight or, conversely, seems so much simpler, and one wishes to relive certain phases of life with the knowledge of today. More experienced, relaxed, and wiser, we would make entirely different decisions. Today's 80-year-olds have often had less time to ponder due to external circumstances than we do.
