On October 22, 1983, several hundred thousand people protested against the planned deployment of nuclear missiles in southern Germany, forming a 108-kilometer-long human chain from the command center of the European US troops in Stuttgart-Vaihingen to the Wiley Barracks in Ulm. Among them are Oliver, Marlene, Ulrike, Wilfried, Franzi, and Ines, as they embark on the journey to save the world from nuclear war. However, what appears from the outside to be a single large movement is a mix of various motivations and beliefs that clash more intensely as everyone only wants the best.
