Product details

This book covers the material from two four-hour lectures on quantum theory, QI and QII, plus a touch of quantum statistics QIII. QI is non-relativistic quantum mechanics; it is found in Chapters I-III, with some additions in Chapter VI. QII discusses the electromagnetic quantum field and its coupling in non-relativistic equations in Chapter IV, and relativistic quantum mechanics along with some quantum electrodynamics in Chapter V. QIII includes, in addition to temperature definitions, Boltzmann factors, etc., also density matrices, including those from quantum optics. We present this material in a highly compressed form: a single formula sometimes encompasses several equations, and the expression is concise, occasionally approaching telegram style, for which we ask for your understanding. For QI, we recommend additional literature such as Cohen-Tannoudji et al. (1977) and Merzbacher (1961).
