Following his strategy of intertwining old media such as silent film, museum, or book into a unique combinatorial practice, Rosalind Krauss develops the emphatic concept of a post-media condition in contemporary art. For too long, self-referential practices and the focus on materiality and medium were seen as hallmarks of a modernity that sought to reveal the pure essence of art.
