"About Projections" provides insights into world maps, their representations, and the associated worldviews. The projection is presented as an ideal projection in the sense of a worldview that describes prevailing mental images, value standards, principles of order, ways of thinking, or explanatory models of the world. On the other hand, it focuses on the geometric projection that underlies world maps: each world map faces the challenge of representing the spherical surface in a two-dimensional plane. In a reconstruction, various paradigmatic worldviews are illustrated using world maps. In a deconstruction, conventional maps are contrasted with alternative world maps. The wide variety of possible world maps shows that they do not depict a status quo but merely a subjective interpretation.
