Abtei Thelema
German, Lambert M. Surhone, Miriam T. Timpledon, Susan F. Marseken, 2010Product details
The Abbey of Thelema first appears in François Rabelais' novel Gargantua and Pantagruel, which was published in five volumes starting in 1532. In the first book, Gargantua, he describes how Gargantua has the Abbey of Thelema built. In this abbey, people live in complete freedom, according to the only rule of the order: "Do what thou wilt." Aleister Crowley established his Abbey of Thelema in a country house near the Sicilian town of Cefalù, where he and his followers lived according to his Law of Thelema. In 1923, Crowley was expelled from Italy.
