The Nara or Naras (Acanthosicyos horridus) is a plant species from the gourd family (Cucurbitaceae). The genus Acanthosicyos includes only one other species, Acanthosicyos naudinianus, which is distributed from Angola to the Cape Province in the Namib Desert. The Nara is also known as the Nara fruit or Nara melon and gets its name from the indigenous Nama and Damara people, who call it Nara.
