The term ACDSee has become synonymous with the software products of ACD Systems and usually refers to the photo manager ACDSee, currently in version 11.0, but often also to the many years-old predecessor versions. This leads to many misunderstandings, as the capabilities of the image viewer ACDSee 4 from 2002 naturally differ significantly from the current photo manager ACDSee Pro 3 from 2009. As an image viewer, the program was among the most widely used of its kind in its early versions and already offered a variety of options for image viewing, organization, and management. The core functionalities have since been divided into two main areas: the overview mode (Browser) and the single image mode (Viewer). The first versions were already operational.
