The Ace Cats were a German rockabilly group that was founded in 1980 as the Alley Cats. The founding members Markus Fräger and his brother Luitger Fräger had known Thomas Szalaga since 1977. At that time, all three were playing in different bands. In 1980, they formed their band Alley Cats, but changed the name to Ace Cats in 1982 to avoid a legal dispute due to name similarity with a US punk band.
