The giant African land snail (Achatina fulica), also known as the East African giant snail, belongs to the family of African giant snails, which are a type of land pulmonate snail. With a shell length of up to 20 cm and a body length of up to 30 cm, it is one of the largest land snails in the world. The shell is primarily brown to horn-colored and features numerous stripes that mark the growth lines. Achatina fulica is the species of giant snail with the most variable shell coloration, exhibiting striped, spotted, as well as dark brown and nearly black shells.
