Joachim Hunold, born on September 5, 1949, in Düsseldorf, is a German entrepreneur and currently the Chief Executive Officer of Air Berlin PLC. After graduating from high school in 1970, he studied law for a while. He worked as a waiter in a Düsseldorf pub, which he later considered his psychology studies. Additionally, Hunold worked as a roadie for Marius Müller-Westernhagen. In 1978, he started as a baggage handler at a small airline at Düsseldorf Airport. Over time, he rose to the position of deputy station manager. In 1982, he moved to the sales department of LTU and left after five more years as the marketing and sales director of the entire LTU Group in 1990 following a dispute with the major shareholder of LTU.
