Achim Soltau (April 13, 1938) is a German correspondence chess player and chess official. From 1988 to 1993, Soltau served as president of the German Correspondence Chess Federation (BdF). Since 1993, he has been an ICCF Grandmaster in correspondence chess. He has participated multiple times in the final rounds of the Correspondence Chess World Championship. In the 16th World Championship (1999-2004) and the 18th World Championship (2003-2005), he finished in fourth place each time. He is currently performing well in the ongoing 20th World Championships, where he is in fifth place. At the Correspondence Chess Olympiad, Soltau won the gold medal in 1999 as team captain with the German team, and a year later, he secured silver at the Chess Olympiad. Since January 2008, he has been participating in the Hermann-Heemsoth Memorial, the best-attended correspondence chess tournament to date, and is currently ranked.
