Achmed Adolf Wolfgang Khammas (March 23, 1952, in Berlin, Germany) is a German-Syrian-Iraqi translator, interpreter, and science fiction author (under the pseudonym Ghassan Homsi). He is considered one of the very few Arabic-speaking authors who write science fiction. Achmed Khammas, EM-Summer 2008. From 1977 to 1989, he primarily worked in his second home, Syria, where he established a manufacturing facility for thermal solar systems in Damascus. In the Syrian part of the Golan Heights, he experimented with pesticide-free agriculture and innovative irrigation systems. Together with engineers Tahsin al-Majed and Maan Kaadan, he developed and patented a highly efficient rotor blade for wind turbines.
