In everyday language, "mindfulness" means, on one hand, making the right decisions in critical situations, and on the other hand, opening one's eyes and heart to the world in order to engage in a relationship of appreciation with it. Those who are mindful distance themselves from indifferent behavior and meaningless habits. Mindfulness is therefore a kind of internal guidance and warning system to find oneself, one's place in life, and one's inner balance. Like many other skills, mindfulness should be practiced daily to overcome obstacles and master challenges. For thousands of years, Buddhist and Hindu monks have recommended breathing exercises, meditations, and other rituals for this purpose. However, the Judeo-Christian tradition also contributes valuable impulses for an open and receptive attitude through the preservation of creation and mercy.
